Brook Mahoney
Founder, Chief Executive Officer
An Iowa native with a BA in insurance and marketing from the University of Iowa, Brook founded Cherry Creek Insurance in 1986. With over 8,000 commercial and personal clients, Cherry Creek Insurance is now Colorado’s 3rd largest Colorado based insurance brokerage firm. Brook also founded and serves as president of Specialty Premium Acceptance Company, a firm charged with assisting client businesses with premium and debt financing.
Brook has been active in the insurance industry’s state association for more than 15 years, and served as president, vice president, treasurer and on the executive committee.
Outside the office, Brook is a passionate hiker and loves to explore and camp in the Colorado outdoors with family and friends. His trips around the state include stops at the summits of 50 of Colorado’s 54 fourteeners. He plans to wrap up the remaining peaks in 2010.
Scott Kennedy
Our President Scott Kennedy credits sailing with helping him to understand and evaluate risk. Whether racing against other captains in the unpredictable winds on Lake Dillon, Colorado or taking his family and friends bareboat sailing in the Caribbean, risk management is always paramount to his decision making at the helm.
Scott also likes to push the envelope in other ways. An avid skier, cyclist and backcountry winter camper, his favorite activities typically include time with his wife Debbie or one of his sons, Taylor or Jordan. His active lifestyle with friends and family provide Scott the appropriate balance in life that enables him to better handle his responsibilities managing the operations at Cherry Creek Insurance.
A graduate of Mesa State College with over 20 years of industry experience, Scott’s background in management, marketing, underwriting, risk management, and sales offer our clients a wealth of knowledge from both the carrier and retail side of the insurance business. He is a Certified Insurance Counselor, Certified Risk Manager and reads books about the latest management principals on a regular basis. Scott also recently attended the Center for Creative Leadership to further develop his acumen in organizational leadership.
Carolyn Evans
Our Vice President of Client Service, Carolyn Evans, is an ardent reader and enjoys a wide spectrum of the arts. From art festivals and tours of unique architecture, to stage plays and thought provoking movies, all help replenish her abundant creativity. Devoted to the community in which she works and lives, Carolyn has helped community leaders organize local charity events, held positions on homeowner boards, and actively participates in Junior Achievement.
With more than 20 years industry experience, Carolyn has specialized in operations management at both the broker and carrier level. Her resume includes client service management positions for several large carriers and brokers. She takes pride in guiding our staff of professionals, fostering client relations, and establishing quality management systems that ensure our clients receive the professional service they expect and deserve.
In addition to attending Colorado State University’s Denver extension for Computer Science, Carolyn is a Certified Insurance Counselor and is currently pursuing the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter designation.
